Do 2 letters = 3 calls as far as recruiting effort Topic

What I mean specifically is does one carry any more recruiting weight than the other (besides the letter being $15 versus $10 for the calls)?

I'm in a very tight race and basically I'm down to these for available recruit options.  If a letter carries slightly more weight with the recruit (dollar-for-dollar) then obviously I want to use that.

My base assumption would be that dollar-for-dollar the letter and recruit call would be equal (that is same value to the recruit per dollar spent) but that the coach call might be worth slightly less.  I've never spent time on this before though, as I've always used these minimally and never been in a battle where I felt it mattered.

Well I've been told repeatedly by aejones that there is NO CHANCE that a call is going to make a difference in a recruiting battle...  Seriously though, I'm pretty sure they are at the very least close enough to equal relative value to not worry about the difference.  I'm not sure a coach call has any recruiting value whatsoever.

Anyone else have an opinion on this? The relative value of calls vs. letters?

A friend has won two high level D1 battles by spending their last $10 on a phone call.

unlikely that 10 pushed them over the edge in either case, but its possible... thing is, theres really no way to know

they are the same. the conversion is approximately 750 in call or letters (not coach calls) is worth a home visit.

Not doubting you, as you've been around a while, but what evidence do you have?

none anymore, i studied it once. you used to battle at distance a **** ton in d2/d3, without FSS in existence. i read on the forums (like, over 5 years ago) that calls/letters were ideal at distance, so i used them, and it seemed true. so i traded battle notes with a few guys, id be shocked if theres more than a 20% deviation from 750 per HV.

i am 99% sure they are the same value because the amount of money it took to get guys to consider you with each was the same. plus, it just fits with how old admin made things.

i think its interesting that it used to be so much easier to figure this **** out. before FSS, distance preference, home/away, and considering credit, there was a lot less muddying the waters. i think a diligent effort could get through most of that but its definitely not as easy as it used to be.
