When to start over? Topic

My team has won 90+ games for a few years now, however I dont have a lot in my minors to make any moves to catch the couple teams a head of me.  I have some players that are getting older and am wondering when should I make moves and start over and get some things for the guys I have?  Or do I hold on to them and possibly not maximize their value and hope a few things "go my way".  I never like the "I give up"  but know its part of how things work, but also dont like being on repeat, hasnt worked with the way it is probably isnt going to if it stays similar.  Any advise thanks season is in free agent signing.

You've made the playoffs 3 years in a row.  Your team isn't aging terribly or anything.  Just keep doing what you're doing and hope to catch a few breaks in the playoffs.  Don't focus on "catching Richmond."

Giving up is not part of how things work.

Make changes when they make sense.   Actively shopping players on a playoff team to "shake things up" or "build for the future" is kind of dumb.

By "kind of", Mike means "very."  Tweak your team if you need to.  Don't make major changes just because you're struggling to win 110 games.

Also ask "what addition could make a difference"?

Is it that you could use one more pitching upgrade for the post season, whether bullpen or starter?
Is it that your offense just isn't getting it done?
Is it that you could use a defensive upgrade somewhere?

If you can answer that question, then you may be able to address it in free agency.

Just a cursory glance through your team seems to show no real 2B.
IDK if you have a guy to bring up this season, or if you plan on picking one up in FA, but from what I saw, I would definitely try to address that if you haven't already.

Playoffs are tough as you are playing two 5 round series in which anything can happen. A burnsy said, all you may need is a bounce or two to go your way.

Damn.  I try to be nice and get corrected on it.

The reason I said "kind of" is because there are times when it makes sense.    If I have a 34 y/o 75(just using one number for simplicity) and a 24 y/o 73 in AAA at the same position, finding a partner for that 34 y/o makes sense to me.   You downgrade slightly for the moment but you open up a roster spot and, undoubledly, some cap space.  That cap space can be used to upgrade that 10th man on your staff who you really don't want to pitch.

You can tweak your team.  But when you're asking "when to start over" when your team isn't exactly old?  Makes me think of the guy who wants to shop all his players, despite have a team talented enough to make the playoffs.  So, "very" dumb.

.  Here's my advice..
Trade all of your 30+ year olders with contracts for prospects.  Get your payroll down to less than 10M as soon as you can.. Lose as many as you can to get the 1st pick and at the same time go after top IFA's.. repeat this for 2-3 seasons and you can't be beat..

Should it be anyone making more than the minimum?

The minimum is almost too much..  I might even suggest running with a 22 man roster.
