Crazy stats- am I missing something? Topic

I have a player, Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Ethan Michaels who for some reason has crazy vL/vR splits.  In 2.5 seasons, he's had a .928 OPS vRHP, .703 vLHP.  As a switch hitter w/ a 52 vL and 56 vR, this is a bit surprising.  Am I missing something?

Ya you are hes a stud hitter.

Shouldn't the title of this thread be "crazy stats"? There's really nothing crazy about those splits. I was expecting a guy with like 20vL/80vR

Probably.

It's coincidence.  There's no hidden meaning or reason.

I think you're missing the 93, 96 and 80 parts of his ratings.

I'm not missing those.  He is a stud, I just don't get why he's so bad against LHP.

Fixed Jtpsops, yes, crazy split (stats), not "splits".

Sample size.

In S25, he had 189 PA's against RHP (.765 OPS) and 109 PA's against LHP (.814 OPS).
In S26, he had 452 PA's against RHP (.951 OPS) and 126 PA's against LHP (.639 OPS).
In S27, he had 356 PA's against RHP (.982 OPS) and 125 PA's against LHP (.670 OPS).

In S25, he outperformed vs LHP as opposed to vs RHP, so throw that season out of the equation.

So in S26/27 combined, you're comparing a sample size of 808 plate apperances vs RHP to a sample size of 251 PA;s against LHP.

251 plate appearances is still small enough (around half of a full season) to see noticable deviation from what one might hope to be the norm.
