1903/1943 Separate Draft League-need 1 !! Topic

This league is really be two progressive leagues in one. The NL is a 12 team league which started in 1901 and the AL is a 12 team league which started in 1941. No trading of players or draft picks is allowed between the 2 leagues, so the NL will always only have players progressing from 1901 and the AL will only have players progressing from 1941.

We have 3 openings for the second season, 2 teams in the NL which will be drafting for the 1902 season and 1 team in the AL which will be drafting for the 1942 season.

The NL (1902) will have a slight shortage of players as 300 players are needed and only 289 are available, a shortage of 11 players or one per team. Every team will be required to draft one $200k player from 2001-2012 to fill their last roster slot. Because of this player shortage. the league (both NL and AL) will be provided with average AAA players, 6 position players and 4 pitchers, for a few seasons until the player shortage no longer exists.

No shortage exists for the AL (1942) as there are about 380 players and 300 are needed.

Detailed roster information for the teams available is provided below. If interested, please sign up below. Because this is a progressive league, I do ask that you not sign up unless you anticipate being able to participate for at least 5 seasons. Interested owners will be given immediate access to the league's private forum, which will in a few days have the available player lists (separate for 1902 and 1942) and the draft schedules.

Excerpt from team rules:

!!!. Teams. There will be 24 teams split into two 12 team leagues with separate drafts for 1901and 1941 (and thereafter separate keeper lists, available player lists etc.). Thus within each league for the initial draft only 300 players will be needed (12 x 25). The 1901 league will have a small shortfall of players (18) as only 282 players are available. For the 1941 league 396 players are available so no shortfall will exist. There will be a list of available teams and ballparks-please use the team names and ballparks provided.

IV. WIS Rules. We will use the 1969-1976 format with 4 6 team divisions, 4 teams making the playoffs, NO INTER LEAGUE PLAY except for the World Series. No DH, No WW, No Salary Cap, No Live play. Injuries off. Initially 6 position and 4 pitching average AAA players will be allowed to cover any shortfalls in PA or IP until such time as the Commissioner determines that AAA players are no longer necessary. No trades of players or draft picks between leagues-the NL will remain only 1901 players and the AL will remain only 1941 players.

.
For the 1902 league ONLY, the shortfall in players (11) will be made up by drafting players with a maximum salary of $200k from 2012. These players may be replaced by AAA players if desired once the season starts. All teams will have 1 2012 player. All teams (AL included) will also get 6 position and 4 pitching average AAA players.Any shortfalls in future seasons will be handled in the same way. 2012 players and AAA players may not be keepers for the following season.

The 3rd team available is the Detroit Tigers (1942 AL). The Pirates had a record of 76-86 and will be drafting 6th in the AL draft. Owners in the AL must cope with the upcoming war years, with many players on IR. The Tigers will have 4 players on IR for 1942, P Jim Turner (who might be cut), 2B Burgess Whitehead, and OF's Sam Chapman and Johnny Rucker. C Ray Berres retired so the team will need at least 5 draft picks (4 IR and 1 retired player). Additional cuts may be made at the discretion of the new owner.  The Tigers are a solid team with a deep, although not outstanding, pitching staff. The holes are 3B and a third starting OF.

Following are the actual batting statistics for the Tigers 1942 players:

papabilly did not post keepers nor respond to site mails so I listed his teams as available. communication is important in progressive leagues.
