WE drop worth it? Topic

Had a guy drop from 59 to 20 on WE when I gave the redshirt. Any thoughts on if the drop is worth the year? I know for some 20 is kind of a magic number.

Not worth it.

That kind of drop is too much for me to consider it to be "worth it". I've had guys drop 4-15 points and left the redshirt on, but even at 15-20 points I even consider it to be a breakeven proposal at best.

The whole point of the redshirt is to give him time to develop, but unless I'm really off base on this, I think a guy at 59 WE for his whole career will with four seasons almost certain develop faster and better than a guy at 20 WE his whole career but with five seasons to develop instead of four.

Depends on what his potentials are whether or not you're gonna start him next season. Personally, my magic WE number is 30, so if he get back above that by his mid-sophmore season then it might be worth it. But that is a huge drop in WE.

I agree its not worth the trade off in this case, but want to mention at least the small advantage of IQ devlopment

I feel the same way but I suppose was hoping somebody would have the opposite opinion. I'm a bit surprised nobody has some exact numbers, and by exact I mean a range of numbers, that different WE's produce

this is my stance as well. If you can RS him this season, and start him next season, go for it.

IQ grows slower with lower WE. You will get an additional year of IQ development, but it's not that much of an advantage.
