When I add the following player to a trade proposal, his contract doesn't go with him.  Only a prorated salary of 327,000 is added to the trade.   Does it have something to do with his transaction history before I took over the team?

thanks

Yep.  He was released while under contract.  You're only playing him 327k while his original team picks up the rest.   Look at your franchise payroll screen.

Unfortunately, my franchise is the one who signed him to the deal before I took over the team.  Also, the previous owner traded for the guy after releasing him and having another team claim  him on waivers, so I am on the hook for the whole salary according to my payroll screen.

Most likely, the guy traded him back so the orig owner would get his money's worth(he was never assigned and auto-released).   Now, if you trade him, you're trading the "released" player.

In the situation where a released player rejoins the team that released him, it seems that the split contract should be "rejoined" into a single contract.

Does anybody know if MLB works this way?
