Hello - I tried to search for this answer but couldn't find it.  Still a bit rusty after a few years off from the game.

Is there a post that lists the ranges for potential (High High, High Medium) and what the scouting report messages are that indicate their range?

Also is there, on some level an element of luck/chance difference between say HIGH HIGH and HIGH MEDIUM - by that, i mean i have some 1st year guys that are already dropping to average potential but from what i read in the scouting reports, I thought they were HIGH HIGH.  so what i mean is you could be getting a HIGH HIGH that could go up 25-30+ points and get the same scouting report as a guy who was HIGH HIGH based on scouting but he was only 1-2 points from really being HIGH MED?  there's no way to tell the difference between the two? just hope HIGH HIGH is really high?

or is that truly mentioned in the scouting reports and I am not reading them closely enough to differentiate?

there is.  i dont have the link but generally when things ARE WRITTEN LIKE THIS or *like this* it's a good indication that they are high high

but once you get that comment, there's no way of knowing if he's a 30+ guy or a 20-30 guy right?  both are considered HIGH HIGH but only 1 has the truly huge improvement level.  there's no way to tell the difference between those right?

As far as ranges, here is what I believe they are:

High-High: 28+ pts of growth (some categories, such as LP or PE will typically gain more than others, such as ATH)
Low-High: 21-27 pts
Average: 7 or 8-20 pts
Low: 6 or 7 pts

Essentially, yes, there is some element of luck involved that you can't discern from the scouting messages. Even if the message indicates high-high, it could be anywhere from exactly 28 pts to 50-60. High-high messages typically have asterisks (*) or capital letters when describing the potential.

OK that's perfect...i think i kind of crapped out on the luck department because i went back and looked at scouting reports to confirm they were HIGH HIGH for a few 1st year guys and they were, but they must not have been the HIGHest range guys

i had a *massive* improvement for DEF, and after 3 points, he's already down to average growth...that might just be bad luck and that DEF doesn't move too much?

This should link to a list of the high-high messages.  It's blocked for me at work, so I can't double-check right now, but it should be correct.

if you definitely had the "massive" DEF message, that should have been a HH. Typically, DEF is one of those attributes that can improve pretty significantly also, so even if it was a 28-pt HH, you shouldn't see it turn to black after only 3 pts of improvement.

The one that always gets me is speed since it says MUCH. I get all excited and then remember thats just LH.
