I am wondering ... 

If I demote a AAA minor leaguer at the end of a season (who has the standard 58k contract) down to AA...  Does he begin the next season with a AA contract?    38k ?    

The financial gains are minimal and insignificant... but I am curious based on principal.   Some of these invisible little simulation twerps are making more than they should.

If he is not on the 40 man roster, yes. But if he is not on the 40 man, there is a chance he retires during the offseason after the demotion.

If he is on the 40, his salary goes up each season regardless of what level he is assigned to.

Minor leaguers will always make the salary of the highest level that they played at.  Your guy will renew for $55k.
