We are starting up a blog/website for the FYC world, and I am in charge of coordinating it. Here are some of the ideas we're considering:
Amateur Draft Review, Top Prospect List, Top 5s, Offseason and Trade Deadline Reviews.

If you have any other ideas or advice on what works/doesn't that would be greatly appreciated. 

Your private world rules. After that, you have to be 100% committed to keeping it up for anything else to matter.

The commitment is certainly there, and thanks for the suggestion. Any others, especially things that you've seen work for other blogs, would be great as well

Draft reviews will need cooperation from other members since until they're signed you won't be able to see everyone selected.  If you ask others for submissions or get unsolicited submissions, make sure to do something with them if you don't want to get people mad and unwilling to help again.  Get others to help so that you can post new material at least once a month.  Doing everything yourself becomes very burdensome unless you have endless amounts of time and no real life.  

Preseason team reviews are usually well received, HOF reports (inductees and/or omissions), owner interviews can be interesting, milestone mentions.

Polls, particularly in conjunction with draft reviews or predictions or anything where a single author offers an opinion. There's room for discussion on those types of things and the polls help non-authors feel involved and committed to the idea of the blog.

I would vote, but I don't like polls.

Never had a problem with Pollish people myself.

If I had time I would do a pre-season prediction (maybe a 1-3 sentence blurb on the BL Clubs pros and cons). Maybe ask for everyone to submit a top 2-3 prospect list that you could do a write up on. Do a draft recap. Do a FA signing / trade recap. Playoff preview. The milestone idea is good. I know I usually post in the WC when my player gets over milestone #'s.
