Pitching park team in hitter's park experiment Topic

Full confession; this has a small portion of look at me in it, but mostly a game theory discussion

First of all, I needed the validation of actually winning a championship with the first theory before trying this theory.
After a lot of fine tuning, mostly with a severe lack of understanding of the offensive side of a team, I finally figured out a formula to have a winning record most seasons with basically having the same 4, maybe 5 pitchers in a rotation. The non-sexy kind.

That's the one that broke the championship cherry.

General rules I find hard to break;
  • PC catcher a must (80 absolute min). 75/75 arm strength accuracy
  • SS above avg defensively. usually 86s and above across the board. The first 2 can OPS .600, and I'm good with it.
  • Pitchers must have
    • a history of less than 1 hit per inn pitched
    • a history of no more than 3 BB per 9 inn pitched

Usually, with my budgeting strategy, I end up with inexpensive, high control, low velocity, high 1st and 2nd pitch pitchers with mediocre Vl and Vr. The team that finally grabbed the brass ring doesn't have a pitcher with a Vl or Vr over 72.

In the extended pitching stats, usually #1 in pitches per game, near bottom is SO/9inn. Basically, they put the ball in play, the catcher reduces the opponent OAV, and the defence doesn't give up errors and takes the odd hit away with + plays.

Now for the experiment part. I'm thinking of picking up a 4th team, and trying it in an extreme hitters park, and documenting (probably for my own amusement only) the success or lack thereof of the same strategy. This is way outside my comfort zone, and may require medication to get through it.

Any prediction on what will happen?

Well, if you win, you'll be all "LOOK AT ME!!!!!  LOOK AT ME!!!!" again.    If you lose, this thread dies with 2 posts in it.

Normally, yes, but I've got that out of my system, and my guess is that it won't work.

Thus, the documentation of such is an expected outcome.

it's a win win. I'm a genius regardless.

In all seriousness, I'm hoping for some sort of outcome that sheds a light on the pitches vs splits argument. That's my selfish need for this.

If I can sacrifice a few seasons of trying to eliminate all variables except park effects, it might achieve that. Might. Or, it could fall apart into a mess of abysmal failure.
