What does it mean when a recruit emails you.  "Hey I'm emailing you to let you know I'm out here.  Let me know if I can fit into your program."  He was a decent recruit, so I send him some recruiting and come to find out he is considering 2 other schools and after $1,500 put in to him still won't consider me.  Why did he send me a email then?

I've had a recruit e-mail me and then when i contact him he tells me I'm a "back-up" option ... even though he is considering no else. Kinda annoying.

I have had SOME luck with this kind of thing. The one guy I had that REALLY worked out, it turned out that my school was his "childhood favorite." That, combined with the fact that my school was only maybe 50-60 miles from his home, led me to land a fairly solid recruit in my early D1 days.

I've NEVER had a single guy who has emailed me actually meet my standards and be "recruitable" to me (and my standards aren't nearly as high as those of some people I've seen post in the HD forums).

They're all players who are significantly flawed in places I simply can't accept. Then again, I play mostly DII and DIII, where that is probably more likely to happen. Still, I haven't had any "recruitable" guys email me at my DI team either.

had one email right as signings started this time around. was actually decent and since I was losing my other 2 battles without enough cash to try for a push I threw him an offer and some minutes, but 2 other schools jumped on him as well and I didn't get listed...

True, 99% of these emails are from terrible players. This guy was a transfer and he was pretty good. Yes the other 2 he was considering were humans and he was only 150 miles away. This was in DIII. Maybe he came from DII. Just dont bother me if your not really considering me.

My good one was also a transfer. He was a sophomore transfer, and as soon as I threw him a scouting trip and a phone call, he turned for me.
