The stat of 'Runs Created' - a nightmare Topic

Out of curiosity, I recently wanted to compare some of my players' RL 'runs created' with their sim league's and, boy, the formula provided in the 'stat legend' gives me a headache just looking at it, let alone actually trying to figure it out.  So, to all of those uber number analyzers and formula-figure-outers out there, e.g., Contrarian, just4me, rbow23, Zube, etc., Is there an easier way to figure this stat out, or at least a way to arrive at a reasonably close guesstimate?

Like a lot of advanced stats, there are many versions of runs created in existence.  Which one you use depends on:
-- What data you have available (in older MLB seasons, some data like CS is not available, and over the years the exact definition of things like SH and SF have changed periodically)
-- How accurate you want to be (versions that include things like HBP, GIDP, etc are more accurate, but for many players the difference is only marginal).

Here's the simplest formula:  (hits + walks) * (total bases) / (at bats + walks).

But guess what?  While in the process of checking my team's stats so that I could do the formula you provided, I clicked on the "extended" option for my team's hitting totals, and walla...each player's 'runs created' are already calculated for you!!!!!!

Nope.  Wasn't aware of it.  But thanks anyway!
