Anyone have any thoughts on how I'm setting up this lineup?  I've been bringing Jernigan  off the bench in favor of Smith in a Vinny Johnson type role, but I'm wondering if he's just so much better than I should be starting him instead.  He's leading the team in minutes right now, but that's misleading since the SOS has been crap up to this point so the bench has been getting more minutes than usual.

Is there a place in HD for the super sub, or is it strictly a numbers game and you should get your best players the most productive minutes as possible?

P.S.  I started Smith in the first place due to defense.

P.P.S.  I understand it's a small sample size, but I guess I'm asking about a super sub in general just as much as I am about this particular case.

Last season, on one of my DII teams,  the leading scorer was the 6th man. He was also the conference POY  and 3rd team All-American. Like you, his defense was suspect so he never started.

I definitely think there's some system theory at play in HD and that the sum of the whole (team) is greater than the sum of its parts, so your "best" or "most efficient" lineup might not be your five highest rated guys and someone who might get lost in the shuffle as a starter can excel coming off the bench in a 6th man capacity.

High offense, low defense backup is a very efficient strategy. If he can backup multiple positions it is even better. The only draw back is that guy usually isn't on the floor late in the game if you need a big basket.

I've been moving a few guys around on my team in the Allen world this year and have noticed that some of the guys who have been very efficient off the bench are not even close to the same as a starter.  On the other hand I have had some guys that are very efficient in both roles.  For example, if you look at my team in Allen this season Ian Ackerson was dreadful as a starter but has actually been pretty efficient as a role player off the bench even though he has some of the best ATH and DEF attributes for my team.  I may give him one more try as a starter before our conference schedule starts because I am also starting to realize that some guys are more effective based on the players that they will be on the court with.  This is definitely something that makes a rebuilding program a little more challenging because some of your guys that were solid one year will be a little bit less effective the following season.  I'm pretty sure it is because of the loss of some players and addition of others so their attributes don't mesh quite the same.  I could be completely wrong too....I'm personally still in a shuffling state with this years team so I am hoping to get the max efficiency out of everyone soon.

If you have any pointers for my squad this year as well I would really appreciate it.  I don't get too bummed when people say my team sucks either haha
