SIM recruiting question Topic

So here is what I know about SIM recruiting.

1) SIMS get a chance to recruit first

2) Distance/cost of recruiting does not matter.

My questions are the following

1) What cost of recruiting advantage do SIMs get?  <100 miles price, or <360 miles price etc?

2)  Do SIMs spend all of their money at once, or do they save half for once signings start?  It seems like if a SIM gets beat out of a recruit they wont try for anyone new until after signings start?

Thanks everyone.

1) Sims recruit as if everyone is 200 miles from their campus.  The way I understand it, they prioritize their targets.  Their top target gets a percentage of their budget, their 2nd target gets a smaller percentage, etc.  The only way to know how tight a sim is with a kid is to check the "word on the street" message.  Now, there is a early considering credit.  The longer you wait to jump on a kid the sim has been on from the get-go the tougher it can be to pry him away from simmy, even with a weak WOTS message.

2) Sims re-recruit on the last day of recruiting...I think it's the 10am (CST) cycle they'll make their 2nd move.  They won't always recruit a 2nd time, as I've seen more and more sim teams with 3-4 walk-ons.

Interesting, thanks darnoc.  I didn't know that about the early considering credit.  It probably explains my tough recruiting battles against sims.  As much as I dont like the SIM advantages, I think the SIM teams would absolutely suck without them, especially in D1.  Another question, for D1 how much more do you have to spend if you are recruiting against a team with lets say 1 full letter grade above you C to B, or how about 1/3 and 2/3rds letter grades C to C+ and C to B-?

Keep in mind that consideration credit doesn't kick in for 24 hours after recruiting opens, so you do have time to make up your mind on battling a Sim before they get any benefit from being first on a kid.

also keep in mind that how many slots a SIM has open matters a lot.  If it say two spots open it will recruit one kid with apx 2x the money

Wow, didnt know that either fd343ny.   Thanks for all the info everyone

I don't agree with that at all.  The trend has been just the opposite.  There was a time when every single SIM had multiple walk-ons every year.  It has trended in the different direction, as SIMs are taking far less walk-ons as of late.

From what I have seen, they recruit a second time when human coaches have beaten them out for enough of the players they were already on that they need to do it to fill their quota of slots without walkons.

What that means is if a sim is "scheduled" to recruit three guys for four or five openings and is therefore already "on" three guys at the start of recruiting, and human coaches take two of those three guys from the sim, it will go after a couple of new guys.

What are the thresholds for when it will go after new guys? If you take one of four guys it went after for six openings, does it happen? What about if two guys are gone to humans?  If the sim has two openings and one guy it wants and you take the guy, does it give up or go for another? I don't know the specific answers to all these questions or to all scenarios, but humans beating out sims for recruits seems to be the REASON why a sim "re-recruits".

Maybe it was an odd coincidence then.  Last season, 2 of the sim teams in my Rupp conference each had 4 walk-ons, as well as one team I played during the season (out of conference).  Could have been a bug with that particular season's recruiting cycle.

Sims DO take walk-ons, but they also seem to have a set number of guys they want to recruit. When humans beat them out for the players they were already on, they "re-recruit" to get the numbers they want.
