'86 Mark Eichhorn as a SP Topic

Anybody ever use the '86 Mark Eichhorn as a SP?  Was he any good?  Any fatigue issues?

I have him in a Progressive League and I have a stronger need for a SP than another RP.

Any help and/or insights would be appreciated.  Thanks.

His IP/G is 2.28.  He will get destroyed by in-game fatigue if used as a starting pitcher with high pitch counts.  I'd set his pitch count at 30/30 or 30/35 to be safe, and the minimum pitch count for any pitcher in a starting role is 40.  You may be able to get away with using him as a starter with a 40/40 pitch count, but if he seems to be giving up most of his runs at the end of his appearances, you'll know the in-game fatigue is getting to him and could shift him back to a relief role with a lesser pitch count.

With that IP/G skunk206's analysis is right.

I might consider including him in a tandem with another pitcher with at least a 3-4 IP/G if you need a SP.

I have used him very effectively in a tandem with a 40/40 PC.  I used him as the B-half of the tandem so that he would often not get to 40 pitches (relief would be brought in), and across the course of the season often checked the "use in relief" box, so he appeared in a number of games as a non-tandem reliever.

He was 11-4 with 10 saves, a 1.05 WHIP, and a 2.79 ERA.  This from a dual-season prog against tough competition.  I was very pleased with the results, especially since you'll never use all his IP as a pure reliever.
