I screwed up and arb'd my CY SP for the 3rd time. After consuming copious amounts of delicious crab, bad beer and cheap whisky at my neighbors, I sit down at my 'puter on my struggle to the rack and offered him a 5 yr. contract at a salary less than the arb bucks. and....he took it. So now he is signed for 6 years. We are still in the arb. period. Is this normal? Did I stumble across a glitch? I'll take it but don't think I will test it again.

It's a glitch.   I've never had the balls to test it.

This morning, when I click on the link, I don't see the long-term contract there.  Did it void out, or is that a quirk of my not being on that world?

Must be from not being in that world.    If you check his transactions, you see the arb at 5 AM and the extension at 7 PM.    Quite honestly, that's not how I understood the glitch.    As I understood it, you could arb and, after the decision, you go back to the arb screen and offer under the "long-term extension" link.    It's almost simultaneous.    He did it with a 14 hour delay.

My guess, after reading it again and doing a little research, is that he offered from the FA screen for the next season and the pitcher took the deal.  Meaning he would have re-signed despite the 3rd arb.

Is it a glich, or is it a product of his 74 overall rating not being high enough to triger an automatic, I'm going to test the market?  Generally, guys that are arbitrated 3 times won't resign no matter their rating.

At any rate, glitch or not, I'd be scared to try it w/ anyone I really wanted to keep around.
