Last second fouling Topic

Has anyone noticed a recent trend where there has been more intentional fouling by a team that is ahead, by exactly 3 points, in the closing seconds? I have seen it a couple of times this season, but not sure if it is simply coincidence or not. Not sure if the engine is deliberately trying to prevent a game tying 3 point shot at the buzzer. Thoughts?

My question is the foul was committed with 1 second left in the game. Wouldn't he be in the act of shooting a 3 pointer, unless he was in a very difficult position to make a shot or well out of 3 pt range, so in that case there wouldn't be much point in trying to foul? I'm not sure, but I have a feeling it was probably unintentional based on the above findings.

I'm also wondering why the shooter didn't intentionally try to miss the free throw on the last shot.

I have always seen this from time to time.  I wonder whether the SIM does it intentionally.  It can be a darn smart play in that situation.

Dont know whether it is happening more - could be that you are noticing it more?  Could be happening more?

In the last example, they didn't actually foul up by 3.

Was it a matter of defensive IQ? Was the defense smart enough to figure out that the percentages were on their side if Ashcraft took the three point shot, as opposed to fouling with 3 seconds left?

Something similar to this happened to me today in an Elite 8 game.  In my case, it was a wise use of a foul to give with :01 on the clock.  But my biggest questions were:  why did my center have the ball (not much of an offensive threat and low distro) and why wasn't he in the act of shooting with only a second on the clock?  I am curious if that was a programmed use of a foul to give or if it was just a potentially boneheaded play that worked really well.
