I am curious if my thinking is correct. I am trying to pull down a DII player. I am DIII with a B- prestige. I called him and got the " I am a backup, call me do it, do it" letter. My understanding is that he can be pulled down by me but I am not sure how much it is going to take. I am 40 miles from him. Would 10 scouting trips be enough.

That's usually enough but not always.

Sometimes it takes a minimum 20 scouting trips plus the scholarship depending on the player.  If you send 10 ST's plus the scholarship and he still tells you you're still a backup and he's not considering any other schools, send another 10 and that should sway him your way.

If 10 does not do the trick, you don't need to send 10 more at once. It might be that only 1 more or 3 more are needed. Sometimes recruiting efforts need to soak in for a cycle, then with a smidge more effort the next cycle, the recruit tips in your direction.

I got him to start considering me after adding 5 more ST's and scholarship after the initial 10. ST's
