I'm not sure that changing distro, depth charts, etc for every opponent is a good idea just for changes sake. I was going to respond to the poll, but I'm not sure now what my answer is, based on the question parameters. I am now running press on most of my teams, so changing for defensive match-ups is moot. Most of my players are playing at their optimal positions already - my PG is my PG generally, since he is the best passer, etc. I wouldn't move him to 2 guard and start the weaker PG skilled SG instead just because the opp plays man and his PG is weaker defensively unless I was convinced making the change would be a + that would offset the lack of PG skills., etc. I might be able to slide bigs around, or maybe make the SF play PF, etc if that works out, but it often doesn't make sense. So I look at all those factors for most games, but I may only change the +/- def setting or something minor. Even if I don't make changes that is still gameplanning, right?

Over changing things all the time is often not optimal. I am frequently guilty of tunnel vision where I focus on changing some aspect for a perceived benefit while failing to recognize the negatives to said change, which frequently outweigh my perceived advantage...

I would say that loking at the settings and after consideration leaving them the same is still gameplannning,.

I will say that if you are one of the ones that never game plans against a sim, that is fine, HOWEVER ... you then sorta lose the right to complain if the sim upsets you, because you gave up your big advantage over them.
I didn't adjust my gameplan against any sims except for two this past season and went 35-0.  I think if you have the right talent, you don't really need to adjust your gameplan much at all, even against most human opponents.

Also if we take arssanguinus's claim that looking at your opponent and not changing things is still gameplanning, I do "gameplan" against most sim opponents.

I'd say I lose about 1 game every 100 or so that I don't look at all because I am playing a sim.

I don't spend as long gameplanning for sims because the sims aren't planning for me - I don't have to account for them changing things up. But I'm at least checking each game, if nothing else to make sure to undo changes I might have made for a particular opponent.

Yeah, I have two levels of game plannings.

One is check everything, make tweaks to lineup and settings, analyze matchups, and all that crap.   It takes a while.

The other is, check, recognize I should win, make sure I don't do anything super stupid like play a -5 vs a team that shoots 3's.

I also like to play my younger players against games I think they can win.   I probably end up losing one game out of 30 I should win by playing my JV team.   Of course, I did forget to put in my starters over the holidays this year and lose 2 games.   It probably cost me some seeding in the NT.
