My rule is that guys from 78-83 rest two out of ten games. Guys in the low 70's rest three games. Near 90...just one game. For example...I have game #90 coming up this afternoon. #91 see's my SS( Dur. 82) rest. I can get about 140-144 starts from him at 100%, so once in a while I'll rest him two games in a row. Game #92-#93, I will rest my 2B (80 Dur.)., Game #94 I will rest my 3B (98 Dur). Games #91-93 I will rest my CF (70 Dur). I have a RF (72) that I usually sit against lefties (he hits them great...but it is an easy way to get him his 3 days of rest out of 10 games). My LF (77) rests 2-3 games. My principle bench guy has defensive numbers of 72-73-82-80. He plays 3B-LF-RF, and then when I rest my 2B, I move my 3B over and my bench guy plays 3B. I platoon a catcher. Sounds complicated but isn't. I'll repeat after game #100.
I roughly figure that a guy with 70 Dur can get about 70% of the starts. 80 Dur can get about 80% of the starts. 90 Dur = 90%. That keeps all my guys at 100% until well into the 2nd half of the season, when I occassionally have to rest a guy an extra day.
