I am not worried about defense or scoring. Is a 75/95/75, spd/bh/pass, really good?

I have a guy that is basically exactly at those numbers.

I wouldn't say really good but solid. I think the speed is what makes a difference. If it was 85 I would definitely say really good maybe elite. I have a guy who just graduated from my Lock Haven team last year who was 6th all time in assists with 493. He was about 75/75 ball handing and passing but 95 speed and 60 ath.

My PG for that team is actually pretty close to your numbers too.

Thanks!

I like my PGs to have better passing, and like blackdog said 10 more points of speed would be great, but I'd start him if I had too and not be too concerned about it. (ignoring def and off...)

Good. Close to really good.

I agree that speed seals the deal. Had a D2 kid who just finished up with 100/72/73. The speed made him exceptional. 6-1 A/T.

I also screen for over 50 ATH for point guards at D2. It seems many people try to get by with high speed and low athleticism; athleticism helps a great deal.

GL with your new PG.

I just completed a ten year run at Post in Rupp with 6 title game appearances, 3 of those wins, and I didn't have a PG who could match those 3 ratings for that whole time.  75/95/75 at D2 is really good and Joe, you've been playing long enough that you shouldn't have to ask, especially since you're always telling the newer coaches what benchmarks to aim for anyway.

I think all new D2 TJ threads are attempts to lure colonels into discussion on anything, possibly just on the theory that let trevor talk long enough he's bound to **** off someone - which I support btw - game on gentlemen.

I think you're probably right.  Good call.

Many of my threads are an attempt to lure people into a discussion about how the game works.   My problems is I sometimes don't ask the right questions.   I guess what I am really thinking about it how important is speed in relation to ball handling and passing for a pure point guard.   I think I am currently under valuing it and was looking for other opinions.

I think you are arriving at a belief I share -- crazy high speed can let a guard with ball-handling and passing in the 60's - 70's play point exceptionally well without crazy high dribbling and passing ability. Your new PG -- his starting athleticism in the 60's will help too.
