Please take over my old team-D3 Iba Topic

After 66 straight seasons at Westminster-PA, I'm hanging up the whistle and moving on.  I'd hate to see the team go simmy, so I'm hoping to encourage a solid coach to pick them up and keep the tradition going.  Iba-Heartland (D3) is an excellent conference with several notable long-time coaches.

I think it should be a terrific situation for a new coach to come in.  6 open spots and good conference money (7 teams in the NT), plus solid returning talent.  Here's a rundown..class listed is for NEXT season.

PG
Call-SO, could handle starting, but maybe you can find better; headed for mid 80s BH and ~50 Def; Spd started and remains black
St Peter-RS FR, still blue in Def/Per/Pass and Spd is headed for high 70s; sort of a combo guard depending on Per growth

SG
Harris-JR, budding star who can play PG/SG/SF; Spd/Def/BH all recently turned black

SF (listed as PG)
Maddox-SR, career backup who's mainly just Ath/Def filler, but wouldn't kill you starting; black Def/LP/Per/Pass/ST

Bigs
Carlson-SR, red everywhere, but solid starter
Rogers-SO, still blue Per/Pass and black in Reb/Def/LP/ST; capable of starting now

We'd welcome you with open arms tanner! There's other teams available in the league as well in case anyone misses out on grabbing spas' team.

Thomas More is another fine program that is coming available in the Heartland Conference.

That was quite a run you had there, spas. Poor alblack the last 1st season coach standing left in Iba DIII. I think...

Yes, I am the last of the original DIII coaches     jjmurphy hung around for many seasons, too,  before leaving.  spas wasn't around at the beginning; he joined in season #5. We played each other at least 134 times, perhaps more. I can't remember when WIS started keeping those records.

He's reappeared a couple of times but I don't think he's currently playing

Westminster and Thomas More are both taken.  Anderson and Bluffton remain. Bluffton's won 2 NTs in the past 6 seasons

Thanks kelby!  Al pointed out I actually joined a little late, but was still around early enough for the Washeonta Invitational!

those were the days!

looks like you just missed out on the season 0005 PIT.
that was the very first PIT tourney.

alblack, vandydave, kel and I were in it.  and i think 26queen and a few others im forgetting.

Hey Kel.... how did that season 0005 PIT end up?.... I cant remember.

(washeonta....wonder why i didnt call it the Oneonington?  i guess im just a nice guy like that.)

Man I really had no clue what I was doing way back then.  I think season-5 in Iba was about my 3rd actual season playing HD.

I did find an old ticket from 2007 where I had scheduled up exhibitions by accident and was asking CS to remove them so I could play Washeonta games!  Good times.  That's a way better name than Oneonington btw..that sounds too much like one thing instead of two separate things.

Mostly I remember always being put in Oneonta's NT bracket and having a brick wall between us and the F4.  I vaguely remember a huge recruiting battle for an awesome big man that Oneonta signed..and of course we had to face him multiple times in the NT.  Can't remember his name, but he was a pre-potential star.

Another fun note ("fun" depending on your POV) is that I'm pretty sure kelby and Wash-MO beat Westy for the title in his last game ever in D3-Iba.  Just one of our Buffalo Bills-like number of title game losses.

005 was my 1st season in Iba also and my 2nd season playing HD. The Washeonta was the only name it could ever of been. I think we tried coming up with others at the time but it was the clear choice. Those were some fun times.

I had forgotten but spas is right about us playing in the title game my last season. Thanks for rolling over for me! That was the 1st of 3 straight title game losses for you. Ouch! You ended up winning quite a few though.

Alblack actually isn't the last original DIII coach still going. Magicdreamer at Mary-Hardin Baylor is still going strong!

Oldave, I remember exactly how that season 5 PIT ended up for me. It ended with my 6 freshmen gaining valuable postseason experience that they used to win the NT championship when they were seniors.

I didn't realize that magicdreamer was an original!  We've been playing each other for the past 38 seasons
