Pull Down Recruiting Topic

In regards to the 'pull down' method, does the 10 ST have to be in one period, or can I do 5 one cycle, then 5 the next?

the latter, it accumulates...

10 is a recommendation based on the majority of the time, but not a hard rule. some players will be pulled down with less than 10, some with more.

anyways, to answer your question: you can break them up.

Gotcha, figured as much.  Did 5 and 5 on back to back cycles (After getting the necessary response from the coach) and the recruit hasn't dropped yet.  Will continue until secured.  Luckily he's VERY close, so its not breaking the bank.  Thanks!

if you are at 10 already, you might try using batches of 3 instead of 5 to save a couple bucks. just what I do that seems to work ok, maybe not the best way but the only one I can recommend directly :)

If you've gotten some kind of a positive message at the end of one of the SV's (kid looks to see if you're watching, our program looks like exactly the sort of thing he's looking for, relative says I think you can get this kid if you keep trying, etc.) then I'd cut back. On the other hand, if you have a message on "saw the other coaches in the gym and we're not even in their league," then you've got a long hill and might need another 10+ to get the drop (I've had to send as many as 23 before...). Also, if you swing from a "positive" message to a negative one (different cycles), it means you're not the only coach trying to pull the kid down (and whoever you're up against is putting in more effort than you are and/or dealing from a superior negotiating position).

"I've been doing this a long time, based on the other coaches in attendance and what I was hearing in the gym, we really don't have a shot unless he gets passed over by the 'big boys'."

*Sigh*  17 STs Deep now and I get this.  I'm not sure anyone else is recruiting him right now.. debating on playing the waiting game.  Didn't even try the pull down method with my top stud Frazier (now a Senior), just the waiting game and he eventually came around without anyone battling me for him.

Depending on the player and the prestige of the school, some of us have used 35 to 50 or more STs to get a player to drop.

never had to go to 50 myself, but definitely to 30 a few times. it's aggravating, but I guess it keeps it interesting.

Thirty two is my high.  I'll never forget Brian LLoyd.
