How to win arbitration Topic

Has anyone developed a good strategy for how to win at arbitration that they'd be willing to share? I couldn't find any existing forum questions that answer this.

To me, the arbitration decisions seem completely random. I've lowballed good players and won, and I've made reasonable offers to terrible players and lost. Is there any logic to the decisions?

Thanks.

I "feel" like I have a higher arb win % if I keep my offer more modest (closer to medium). FWIW, best way to control arb is- not to go to arb or initially loose (match the player's demand).

Why do so many posters use the word loose when they mean lose? Am I missing something?

Just being careless that's all

The only thing I've found somewhat consistent is the "average".   If the player is ask for a great deal more than the average, I've found that I win most when I offer slightly more than the average for age/experience.

Ive been losing a lot lately offering upwards of 90%.  I dont even try anymore.  I keep the solid guys and cut the filler.

I let the AI do the arb, sometimes I get a guy at a cut-rate price I'd never get if I offered it manually, and sometimes I lose. Beats losing a majority of my cases when I was going to the trouble of calculating and offering 85-90% of player demands.
