Draft or Manually Select AAA prospects? Topic

I am looking for advice from experienced low cappers.  Which do you prefer for low cap leagues?  Any info or insight would be appreciated?
Thanks.

They're different. I like random because there is more variety. My complaint about manual selection is there are a handful of players who stand out and so not many to choose from.

rbow923, thanks for your thoughts.  You have no control over random players.  You can't select random guys.  It is luck of draw. Selecting enables you fill pa in certain areas of weakness or get a glove guy for late sub.  I guess control of destiny is in hands of owner a bit more. Thanks again.

I prefer picking my own rather than relying on "luck of the draw".

Thanks tribe.  I tend to agree with you.  I appreciate all responses.

My thought is this...random allows for there to be AAA "winners and losers" as luck of the draw is just that. Some owners get quality players and others get duds. Allowing trading of AAA can help if you get duds, but also opens the "trade rape" issue.

With manual drafting, you essentially pick your poison. You have control over quality/quantity, defense and every other factor. This allows for more fine tuning but also for more gamesmanship of PAs/IP.

In a low cap league, draft your own AAA (below average) essentially allows you (if you choose) to
1 - Not draft a closer.  You can get 2 excellent pitchers to share the job
2 - Get by with about 400 PA at 6 positions.... Get 2 full time OF and the rest become platoon players with their AAA counterparts.
3 - OR completely dump two positions and platoon 2-3 AAA players at those positions.  This allows you to draft better players at other positions.

IMo, a $60m leage with draft your own AAA is very similar in quality to an $75m league with no AAA.

A $60m league with random AAA is very similar in quality to a $65m league with no AAA.... The talent you get isn't always useful (a 450 PA 1b with a .190 batting average?)

Thanks guys.  I am wanting feedback from all.  What about a 65 million cap and 6/2 below average or 70 million cap and 4/2?  To me as a control freak guy, the ability to manipulate all players on the 25 man roster and aaa prospects is being a complete gm and manager.  I have not played enough to know about cookies for aaa prospects, but I am sure there like in regular play.
