you are correct that the fouling at end of game seems odd at times. like what you describe where team leading is fouling. were you running a press defense? i think that contributes and that is kind of logical, but that goes back to the issue that its difficult to establish good iq in more than one defense and if you choose to press, youre kind of stuck with it, even if you are leading by 10 with 2 minutes left, which is kinda silly. i guess you could choose to switch to zone even with poor iqs when leading big late. but i would fear even screwier results playing a defense with poor iqs late... i think that could lead to odd fouls too.
also, i seem to see fairly often where a team is down by one or two or three with the clock running down, and then there is a foul with 0:00 left. the odd part is that it isoften a non-shooting foul. usually that doesnt matter much if you are already in double bonus... but how could the kid not be shooting at that point? i mena, yeah, i guess you would have the odd occassion where offensive and defensive players both lose track of time and that occurs, but it seems to me that it happens fairly often.
im guessing its a tricky thing to program because of all the various possibilities at end of game. ive always had a hard time choosing how to set my end of game stuff because you probably want one scenario for up 10 with 3 minutes left, but another sceanrio for up 4 with two minutes left and maybe a different scenario for up 1 with a minute left but you can only pick one.... and even if they allowed you to pick more it would probably make it so complicated my head would spin
i tend to agree, i'd like to be able to set a lot of conditions, but i think it would over complicate things. having the engine try to make rationale decisions like when to hold ball, etc, is probably good, it should cut down the need for numerous conditions, although 2 could still give substantial mileage. one thing i would like to see is if you change settings due to a deficit, and you come back below the threshold - meaning, its working (or you just got some RNG love, but you sort of have to assume the former) - that it would stick with the supposedly working settings, not go back to the same crappy setting that got you into this mess in the first place! ive had several games where we'd switch to some intense late game setup, get back within say 6, and now go back to the old crap, and totally sputter out. its like... yeah, i probably would have lost anyway, but come on, who the f*** switches back when you just cut the lead by half in 2 minutes?
