first of all... why would you cut a kid you just redshirted? my philosophy has always been to redshirt my BEST players when possible. but certainly dont want to redshirt a kid who is a borderline role player and then cut him. although, on rare occassion, i will admit that i have cut a kid i redshirted. it can happen, but shouldnt happen very often else you are making poor projections on player progress.
multiple redshirt and varying roster sizes sound good at first, but i would fear that the top teams would stockpile the best recruits and have 14 man rosters with 2 or 3 RSs. ultimately not good for competitive balance. and varying roster sizes would probably be a fairlycomplicated programming change...i think?
on your last comment, i dont really get that. you can choose to have 11 scholly players and one walk on. do we really care whether the walkons are there or not?
i will agree that there are times when i wish i could cut several of my players midseason just because i am so pisted off and want to "send a message"
i do agree with hughes' original post though... that would be nice.
