About those maxed out e-mails... Topic

I posted a few days back about my injured, unable to play player who was (I thought) mysteriously maxing out in statistics while being too injured to play. After the second attribute maxed out during his mandated 6 day vacation, I sent a ticket to inquire about it. Today, I received this interesting reply...maybe it's common knowledge to some but it was news to me:

"There is actually no set trigger point to get those emails. Basically, each day it looks at the entire pool of players that are close to their max and then picks a small subset to send emails. So getting an email doesn't necessarily mean that he just recently got to that point."

I found this to be very interesting. I had always assumed the emails came at a set time when a player got withing 'x' of his cap. From this response, it would appear that the player could possibly have maxed several days/games prior to receiving the emails, meaning practice minutes could have been allocated sooner into other stat categories.

And, I guess, to be clear on the injury thing, it was reaffirmed for me that players who are too injured to play do not practice while recuperating.

Like I said, maybe others knew this, but for me the bit about the emails was news.

That's interesting.  In the short time I have been here, I have only got the "maxed out" e-mail when I have more than 3 minutes on my red categories.

Definitely an interesting tidbit.

It's news to me too. I had been working under similar assumptons about the emails.

So, if your player is never in the subset, you may never receive such a notice??

I'd like to hear from Seble on this. It seems like a non-trivial thing to me.

I think something like this has been implied by what we have always observed.

I think it is known that there is one improvement cycle overnight.

Yet, we get maxed out messages in three cycles - 3 AM, 5 AM and 8 AM ish ET.

This reply is a pretty good explanation of that long observed behavior

Why over complicate things? Why not just send the email immediately after the player maxes out, or the cycle after? I go through and revamp my practice plans a couple times per year to maximize efficiency, I don't like the idea of a skill being maxed out with no way to tell.

if you are only adjusting a couple of times per season, then you are not adjusting as players turn from blue to black to red in a skill, which happens throughout the season without email alerts.

That was precisely the thought that raised my eyebrows when reading it al...and in retrospect it makes sense because I know I've had players who maxed out in categories near the end of their junior years who seemed to take an awful long time to re-max in their senior seasons in those same categories. This, I think, explains some of that perceived delay in capping categories. I'll definitely be tracking my black-to-red transitions more carefully during the season now.

This is where a "notes" section on each player card, like GD has, would really come in handy.

+1. Like HBD has also.
