Try resetting your password in the BIOS settings. Not sure what OS you're using, but Google "enter BIOS settings for (your operating system here)" and the results will tell you how to access it.

now correct me if I am wrong but BIOS loads before the OS, so that wont help in entering BIOS.  motherboard manufacturers I believe set the button to press to get into BIOS.  And I think it is usually delete.  Sometimes escape, sometimes F10, and maybe some others that I havent encountered yet.  But I dont know if the BIOS password will help you to access your windows if you dont know the windows password.  I bet there is a way to get around the password, but its probably only known by select computer nerds of which I am not a part of.  Actually I think starting in safe mode allows you to get through without the password, but there is very few things you can do in safe mode.

try asking her? If she still has access to your laptop the relationship can't be that bad.
