Top recruiting classes question Topic

Does it realistically mean much? Also how is it calculated with the points?

Completely useless at D2 and D3, because the rankings don't take into account potential and growth, the players are only rated on their current stats. I think HD is really missing out on an opportunity to add another fun little element here.

I suppose in D1 they are more accurate.

It also doesn't take into account if they are FR/SO/JR/SR. Many times, a team with be rated highly because they picked up upperclassmen.

Also,  a walkon is considered as a true freshmen in the class rankings

Its pretty ridiculous that the recruiting class ranking system hasn't been updated since the addition of player potential.  I'm always one to defend WIS, but this is bad no matter how you slice it.

It just shows how little Rivals and Scout.com and the fan boards know - they just look at current skills and do not have the sophistication of experts like FSS to judge potential

they do look at potential, in a big way, don't they? i mean, its their perception of potential, not "actual potential", but still...

usually the top classes are pretty good, but not always. realistically it is barely more than window dressing.
