I don't know how anybody feels about this but I had the thought and was curious if anyone else would find this interesting.

The idea around the new world is focusing on coaching "Legacies."

How would this be done? (First HUGE change)

Coaches would be limited to a 45-50 season limit.

Why and What would this do?

I chose 45-50 because the current longest tenured coach is Jim Boehiem for Syracuse at 37 years and he doesn't look like he's stopping anytime soon, this would also allow enough time to work your way into D1.

The reason we would limit because then a coach could define a "career." This would also lead-way to a new "Coaching Hall of Fame." The coaching hall of fame would now have an equal standard and coaches could be voted in by the community based off of accomplishments and could also be treated like current HOF processes where a coach only has 5-10 Voting chances to get voted in. After that time passes, the coach can no longer be elected to the HOF. As far as the amount of coaches allowed per period into the HOF could be around 3-5 each vote. The vote also doesn't have to be limited to D1, a coach could spend his entire career at a D3 level and still potentially be voted in. When a coach reaches the limit and does retire the voting process will show all the stat lines, for instance Coach A has a .725 Win PCT .500 NT win PCT 20 Conference championships and 3 National championships. This is just an example as we could also include NBA draftees and All-americans too.

What happens when my coach retires?

You start fresh and new, back at D3... This is probably the worst drawback i'd say but I'd also say it would be 10x more gratifying to have a HOF coach and start from fresh rather than sit in a world and be considered HOF. This would allow us to officially stamp people as HOF status. The other portion is the season limit would not be consecutive to make it not as bad. The limit would be "playable" seasons and not consecutive to help counteract and let players jump in and out if neccessary.

Why else would we want this?

I go through the history of top teams at D1/D2/D3 and they are very stagnant. Some coaches have been at there respective schools for over 30-60 seasons. This would make the game more organic and allow a more realistic coaching feel. The coaches do not have to serve there entire tenure to be considered for the HOF. They would have a "retire" button that would end the career early and put them into the voting process. This would be able to start amazing conversations about the best "legacy."

Other potential idea related to this league

Splitting the HOF by division, so D3 would have its own HOF and the same goes for D2 and D1.

I understand that not everyone would enjoy something like this but I feel their is a lot of coaches out in the community that would love to officially stamp their profile with a HOF coach. We talk that some coaches are another level or are top tier coaches but this could actually cement it....

Feedback would be cool, this was just a thought/idea and was curious if anyone else is interested or finds it entertaining...

I would be up for it if they fixed firing/hiring logic.

Another idea I had was to limit the amount of coaches who could join per season, maybe 20 per season? So the league could staggar retiring coaches at full tenure. This would also prevent coaches from retiring super early because of bad starts and restarting right away, they may have to wait a season or 2 on a waiting list to join.
