Just how important is pitch calling? Im wondering if a big arm 90+ infielder with a crappy pitch calling would control the running game so much that it would make up for his lame pitch calling. Anyone ever try this?  Or have any thoughts?

A long time ago I ran stats for my teams for about 20 seasons.   I found that a team's ERA increased roughly .12 for every 10 points in PC.   IOW, it's about half a run per 9 difference between 90 and 50.

I think he is asking if the throwing arm will factor into LOWERING the era difference. Right? If so I would say controling the running game would be a big factor. IMO

One could start testing with minimal risk by setting Mr. Cannon Arm to come in to rest starters.

IIRC, arm strength lowers the attempts, arm accuracy increases the CS.
