Who is the better scorer? Topic

Curious which of these two players would be the better scorer as a guard in D3 with a flex offense?

Name A SPD REB DE BLK LP PE BH P WE ST DU TOT
Richard Litten 58 97 1 44 2 1 45 81 53 60 88 50 580
Charles Bolster 52 74 28 39 10 38 74 61 55 45 86 49 611

Depends on Litten's FT shooting. With that SPD/BH combo at D3, he should be able to get to the line at will. From there, it's just a question of if he can convert. If he's a B FT shooter, I think these two guys will be about dead even as scorers.

He's currently a B- FT shooter but there's some potential left (still black).

I would take Litten because of his speed and ballhandling skills

Bolster's speed is about D-3 average, perimeter is about D-3 average.

Litten's speed enhances all his other attributes.

Litten is the better scorer by a considerable margin in my book.

Thanks for the feedback. My first reaction was that Bolster would be more versatile but Litten would be a slightly better scorer in most situations. Sounds like I'm in the right ballpark on that assessment.

it really depends on your team and what you need (and IQ and FT). litten's 8 ath, 23 spd, 20 bh sure is significant, generally if you assigned individual offensive values to ratings, those would exceed the value of 29 per. but the thing is here, litten is 100% useless as a 3 point shooter. his 2 point shooting can be valuable, for sure, especially with solid ft. he can be a very meaningful contributor. but if you let me choose between these two guys (JUST for offense), and i had no other 3 point shooting, i'd most likely take the 3 point shooter. spd/per driven 3 point shooters in flex in the lower divisions just seem to kick ***. that is what bing developed bingball around, and i think by 70 spd/per you can have a pretty darn effective scorer in div 3. although, i am many years removed from d3 - it was true when i left - maybe its not as true now?

i guess it seems to me that both players could be pretty valuable, offensively, with litten probably better in general, but the other dude being more useful if you really need 3 point shooting.

I've run the flex at d3 for a long time and I can say pretty categorically that the flex does not reward you with FTA's the same as other offenses. Nevertheless, the other guards 3 point shooting is no great shakes. I think that the better shooter cannot be a volume shooter, but can be set at a 0 as far as his shooting and still make roughly 40%. I'd say that the better scorer will be the 3 point shooter, just based on my experience, but you can set the guy with hi-SPD and BH at a lower distro and still get pretty good scoring production out of him. The Flex is, as gillispie1 says, a 3-point offense.
