Starting PG? Would appreciate input Topic

Last couple off-season's in Knight I haven't been able to land any solid/true PG's, and now its coming back to bite me.

Here is my Christopher Newport squad this season

Started the season off with Victor Conley starting at PG, backed up by starting SF Douglas Ray and starting SG Gary Perkins.
( Stupidly ..w/o taking into consideration the effects of fatigue.)  Harold Brown has strong guard skills and would be an excellent depth PG in the short term (Still Blue in PE/BH/P) however his low Def rating scares me.

Before changing my depth chart, I'd love to hear others input/advise. Thanks!

The choice is clear: PG Perkins; SG Conley; SF Ray. Brown backs up PG & SG. Your team's version of an entry pass should be a missed three. Seriously, jack'em up! Try to avg 30+ 3FGA per game.

Love the line about the entry pass rogelio. I used to work with a guy who played SG for WVU in the 90's and he used to start yelling to his teammates that he was open once he knelt down by the scorers table to check in to the game. Same philosophy I think...

I coach CNU in Rupp so I had to jump in on this one. I'd probably leave my starters the same as you've got them but I'd play Brown as backup for both PG and SG as rogelio said. Once you get his P rating into the 50's I think he might be equal or better than Conley as a PG due to the SPD and BH advantages. I can understand your concern about defense but I think the team offensive efficiency would make up for that.

Without a doubt your team lacks a true PG, as you mentioned. Honestly, I like Conley at the PG position, because of his ability to create turnovers from the opposing team's PG. Their PG had turned the ball 21 times, in 4 games including the two exhibition games. All 3 of the guys seem pretty close/comparable in terms of BH/Pass. However the one thing that might concern me with conley is the lack of speed. In Conley's first two regular season games, he has a 11/3 assist to turnover ratio. Unless Conley can create something off of his athleticism, at least right now you don't have much of a scorer, which makes Conley perfect for the position.

I like Perkins at SG because of his 88-93 speed/perimeter rating, not sure how much is lack of ballhandling will effect that. Ray is the perfect scoring SF, his PE+LP skills are pretty astounding for D-3.

And 41 isn't a terrible defensive rating for D-3, just because it isn't 60 or 70 like most players, doesn't mean it's terrible either.  If he has some offensive talent, the 41 DE can be forgiven.
