In smith the NT for D1 the 1-2-3-4 seeds all advanced to the sweet sixteen. Some upsets in the round of 64 but after the round of 32 the top 4 seeds prevailed in all regions... Has this ever happened in RL?
Since the NCAA espanded to 64 teams 30 years ago, the 2007 tournament had the fewest upsets.
The Sweet 16 consisted of:
1, 3, 5, 7
1, 2,3, 4
1, 2, 5, 6
1, 2, 3, 5
#2 seed Wisconsin lost to UNLV
#3 seed Washington State, lost to Vanderbilt in 2OT
The #4 seeds who lost were Maryland (to Butler); Texas (to USC); and Virginia (to Tennessee)
Only twice, in 1995 and 2007, has there
not been a double-digit seed in the Sweet 16
The most double-digit seeds happened in 1999, when #10 Gonzaga, #10 Miami (OH); #10 Purdue; #12 Oklahoma and #13 SW Missouri made it
Interestingly, only 4 times (1994, 2000, 2007, and 2009) have all of the top 16 seeded teams even advanced to the
SECOND round
