Do Rule 5 guys have to be on playoff roster? Topic

I have 2 players I chose in the rule 5 draft, 1 positional and 1 pitcher, the pitcher as I figured hE would, is getting crushed as he never pitched above Low A, but his ratings are steadily increasing while pitching in the majors.  I don't want to lose him, but I don't want him costing me games in the playoffs....if I don't put him on my playoff roster, will it put him on waivers?  Thanks!
