Lost the NT Title game......again Topic

For the fourth time I have gone down in defeat in the championship (Bard in Iba 3 times and Eureka in Allen once). Always the effin bridesmaid!

I'm wondering how many times anyone else has made it to the finals and lost numerous times and never won it.

I've been about you. Two of the four times my star player went out in the final four win.

I didn't win it all until my fourth trip to the championship game (and ten total trips to the Final Four).

It took 3 or 4 losses in the title game before I won one too. If you keep having teams good enough to make the title game it will happen!

Although I won a Championship a long time ago at DII. I am currently on a run in Rupp at UConn where in the past 13 seasons I have been to and lost 4 NT title games (1 team was undefeated) and have made the Final Four 3 other times as well (1 of those teams was undefeated) and still have nothing to show for it.

I went to 5 NT title games with my D3 Millsaps team…. lost all five.  Also went to 2 final fours and lost those games.  so that was 7 near hits… finally broke thru and won it all a few seasons ago.

congrats! thats pretty rough. i always like to see folks who clearly earned it break through :) i only made 1 final four before winning, but i did have a s16 hump for a while. i had one d3 team who pulled the 2nd 1 seed who was awesome, but they lost to the -5 slowdown in the 2nd round. i was actually pretty young to the game and it was my fault for having only 1 3 point shooter (who he doubled), but, it was pretty crushing to the rookie coach_billyg. from there, i had a handful of other capable, competitive teams, but they couldn't catch a break. after that, the next time i pulled a 1 seed, it was my first in d2 tark, at my first d2 team. we got off to a great start and pulled a 1 seed a handful of seasons in - running into a rail's d2 tark team (where he won 8 titles in 9 years, just shortly after that), and he had a 9 seed because he had 7 freshman, and i think mostly was playing them because, why not? but then he played for real in the NT, his guys had grown up, and he beat me, on his way to the final 4 as a 9 seed.

finally some team not nearly as good as my best broke through, and then it was just a few seasons until i won my first championship. its kind of funny how those things go, your best teams can make you cry, while the team you expect nothing from goes on to win it all. a lot of guys will say many of their best teams didn't make it, while the teams who did win titles for them, were often unexpected. just the way it goes with all the luck in the NT! i think tracyr was fairly deep into double digits on final fours before he won the big one.

Well, I have I think it is my fourth opportunity to lose an nt final tonight(under arssanguinus)(don't want to count the failed final fours). And if I did manage it, it would definitely be the least likely of the bunch.

My tex tyler teams would get to the nt cruising through the regular season, cruising through the ct, cruise through the nt, then get to the nt final, injure an important player, and lose.

Nine seasons, lost three championships, and an elite eight, including losing two championship games back to back seasons.

Those teams were a combined 133-5 with RPIs between 4 and 9.  definitely was Argh inducing.  Made me leave a place I probably should have stuck around at due to frustration.
