SG Lineup team question Topic

My team goal is defense and any starter I want to average at least 50+ defense, recruiting is coming up and I have no option but to pick up a SG as I only have 1 on roster however the 1 on roster is about to be a Junior and he's 38black defense and went black around 25-28 ish so I know he won't hit that mark. Reference player here : Fenton

So the question is, Am I better off running with Fenton this season and take the DEF hit or should I target a DEF guy and start a freshman for 4 seasons? If you have better ideas my team is HERE

Thanks!

I'd start Schuelke at sg.  Fenton has no business being on a DII team, and he definitely is too slow to play guard at a competitive level, and has way too low ath/def to start.  I don't know why you chose 50 as your goal, at DII I'd make your goal for ath/def to be 60, and you can take a player a little lower than than when they have other good ratings.  But a 50 team defense, especially in a man to man, won't get you far in DII.  Good Luck.

Dan, the season is over; he's talking about a lineup for next season which means no Schuelke.

You definitely need to grab a guard that's a better defender. Fenton will be a huge defensive liability and belongs coming off the bench or not on the roster at all.

Thanks, was hoping his D came along more when I recruited him, he was a D1 pulldown and sadly 7 scouting trips gave me no info on how High his D potential was but I lose alot of perimeter shooting so grabbed him anyways. I'll look to pull in a Powerhouse SG before I touch any other recruit
