Read and absorb - the whole thing, but particularly the motion part.
i've come to realize that while motion does work really well without any stars (not disagreeing with anything i said there, i think, i didn't fully re-read but skimmed), you can also have a high scorer on your team without losing efficiency. i've always said you have to play the players first and the set second, but, i didn't have much experience with a 20ppg type guy in championship caliber motion teams. now i do. they can work just fine, it seems, if you still have decent balance behind them. i guess i said for years you still play a guy who is a lot better, at a lot higher rate of shooting - i just thought it would ding you a bit harder than it appears to.
i definitely do still think, if you don't have a stud or two to lead the team, motion would be the best suited offense. so i don't really disagree with anything i said there, i just want to make sure the message isn't lost that you still play the players first, and the set second. the set is important but ive tried more over the last few years to point out that it is a finer level of detail than the basics like recruiting enough offensive talent, playing the laws of diminishing returns, etc... the offense differences matter, just not enough to override the basics. i guess that is all i am saying :)
