Which of these would you put at SF and which at PF? I realize that neither has ideal post rebounding, but I'd want to start both. Just interested in hearing perspectives.

Gibb at the 3, Gilbert at the 4. Gilbert is a solid bit better at rebounding and post defense, while Gibb will be slightly less turnover prone and is just about as good of a perimeter defender as Gilbert.

Flip a coin.  I don't agree with ccv2's analysis, though it's more a matter of degree than direct opposition.  The rebounding is just about a wash, maybe half a board difference?  Maybe?  I think Gibb's shot blocking pretty much makes up for the DEF difference.  Turnovers - the guy who handles the ball a little better, or the guy who passes a little better?  Speed vs. DEF rating on the perimeter.

What a pointless post I'm making!  Unless you're looking for someone to tell you they also would be unsure.

In absence of everything else, I figured gibb at SF might have better defense regarding perimeter based small forwards due to his speed.

Remember that athleticism is a big part of defensive and rebounding ability and Gilbert has a huge edge there so he will undoubtedly be a noticeably better defensive player and, perhaps to a lesser extent, a better rebounder.

LOL at car_crazy and his 4 career NT wins telling llama (multiple NT champion) that athleticism matters...

Also, I think it's a very strong jump to say that Gilbert will be a better rebounder.  It's probably basically a wash, and I wouldn't consider any rebounding differences whatsoever in this case.  I'd mainly just go on the speed.

Well, considering that my first go at the game included just 26 seasons played from the age of 13 to 17, I don't think my performance as a coach was too bad. I was learning. Perhaps you disagree.

As far as these two players' rebounding ability, there is no question in my mind that Gilbert is a better rebounder. The stats back this assertion as well.

Keep in mind for a good portion I was playing him (Gilbert) at the three ... Where he was generall facing people he both out athleticismed and out rebounded by more than he likely would at the four.

Can you post their ratings A?  I can't get the stupid links to work on my stupid computer, stupid, stupid.

I can try. For some reason I have trouble getting the formatting to cooperate with me.

Even so, playing at the 3 rather than 4 would give him significantly fewer rebounding opportunities. Here's a decent example from my current team that illustrates this.

Two players on my team, Eddie Moss and Richard Borror, have formed my starting 3/4 combo for three seasons. Borror played the 3 for the first two seasons that I was at PU and Moss is playing the 3 this season. Borror has always been a better rebounder by a solid margin (current ATH/REB margin: +8/0). When Borror was at the 3, he was outrebounded by Moss 4.5:4.1 and then 5.7:5.2. This season, with the roles reversed, Borror is outrebounding Moss 7.0:6.1 and this is the closest Moss has ever been to him in terms of rebounding ability.

This is a purely circumstantial question, especially since you run m2m. Set both of their offensive distros pretty low, and choose the starter based on the scoring abilities of your opponents SF.

As a disclaimer, I didn't look at your team as a whole....but if you need both of them as starters on a nightly basis then the circumstantial nature of this question is highlighted even further.
