D1 job logic is still dumb Topic

So if I understand your discussion guys, once you hit D1, you are stuck in the job you choose?
You're stuck unless you win a CC or make the postseason. I know that sounds like a low bar, but this system offers you no recognition for taking over a terrible D-1 program and turning it into a winner that just can't quite get over the hump to CC / postseason.

(I'm sure there are exceptions to what I'm stating here, but they'd be disappearingly rare.)

Fair warning, I don't have a team in DI and I have no plans on moving up either. What I do have are a lot of bad ideas, so here is one of them.

I've read people saying that they need so many seasons to turn a program around....why not incorporate that into the hiring process and make it an actual interview. Your resume is one part of it but how about a small questionnaire that the applicant fills out. Now written answers just drop down menus. For instance, one question could be how long will it take you to turn this program around/make an NT/win x amount of NT games.

Obviously different schools would have different expectations, but if your cocky enough to say you could take a c+ or b- school to the NT in 2-3 seasons maybe that improves your chance of getting the job. However, if you do not live up to the expectations that you suggested, well then you're fired.

This would work well at the big six schools as well, for instance if you agree going in (which you would need to just
to be considered) that you will make the NT every season with at least a sweet 16 run x amount of times y seasons and you don't fulfill your obligations you will be fired. That way you know going in you know your expectations..

Again, just throwing my own bad Idea out there
as far as bad ideas go, its a pretty interesting one :) i worry about the coach who loses the job because someone over promises though, i don't think seeing them get fired a few seasons later would really make up for it.

I dont think you are stuck in low DI

get to the NT a few times and you can move to a better job - and maybe then move up again

BUT, there are too few openings in BCS schools because firing is too weak

AND, when vacancies occur it is very hard to get a BCS job in a program that has high prestige - one has to wait for a few seasons of SIM suckage in order to get the job

"Get to the NT a few times..." yeah, as I said in my post, that's what it takes.

Hirings/firings (especially firings) have been broken as long as I've played the game (nearly 9 years). It's a HUGE issue and one that has been repeatedly begged to be fixed. But..........since nothing has been done about it since the dawn of time and since the game admin hasn't been seen for, well, ever, it's probably safe to say that we'll all just have to suck it up and deal with it. Unfortunately.

I really like Milwood's "bad" idea about the dropdown application expectations though.

Fix hirings/firings and recruit generation and the game would be close to damn near perfect.
