Attacking the Press Topic

I have a good feel of how I want to attack zones and man to man when setting my player distribution levels and depth charts. While I have had success against press teams, I really have no clue if I am going about it the right way.

So here is my question with a conditional follow-up.

When setting your player game plan, what factors do you take into account in regards to your opponents ratings when deciding your player distribution?

If you are a motion offense, do you have additional considerations?

Addressing the topic .... attacking the press ... the better the opponent the slower the tempo. Offensive IQ is more important against the press than any other defense (my observation only). And with good ATH you can get any press team into foul trouble ... a great equalizer when playing a press team with great speed.

Your posted question and follow-up demanded a little too much thinking for me. Sorry.

Turning the ball over is a huge problem against the press. So, if you don't have good bh and passing definitely play slowdown, IMHO. As far as attacking the press, they can't double team so if you can load up one one or two players.

Back to the turnovers, if I have a little with sup-par ball handling and passing (~70/70 for pg and SG and ~55/55+ for SF) I would generally pull back on their distro unless they had elite ratings in other categories.

Oh, those numbers are for DII

I throw all my dist into the BH and PASS players, if you turn the ball over the same amount as the team your facing typically your in real good shape vs the press. Just remember the press does not dictate clear matchups so it is possible to have your top flight pg being d'ed up by a big man. Just hit shots and keep turnovers down is all you can do
