Is that tark...im lookin for a team

Back in the day sim ai used to play way better than their ratings to make up for their horrible recruiting, so when a human coach left the sim ai would do really well.

Then they changed it so sim ai would recruit WAY better and then play awful so there would be really stacked D3/D2 sim teams.

This was before potential though.

Not sure it's a win for you Texas... Good luck, that SIM is really good. And I think it's TARK. So grab em Colonels. I am going into the NT with my DII team.

update: i ended up taking over this team and made an amazing post season run to the NC before losing.  went 30-5 with rpi 7 and sos 8.  dont know if thats interesting or not but it has to be the best run by a majority sim recruited team.

i was going to argue for wisconsinsuper-tark season0007....  they are the only d3 team in any world to win a NC.
but, i did some checking and they had a human coach in seasons 1-5.   most likely the human recruited some really good players in seasons 4and5 who would have been jrs and seniors in 0007.

i gotta say that is an incredible run you had with a sim recruited team.   obviously  the senior laden team and great IQs helped,  but still an awesome coaching job by you with a marginally talented team.

interesting to have such a great SOS with. a sim made schedule and playing in a 100% sim conference, but then i realized that the noncon was so tough because folks were lining up to play a team that would would very likely go 19-0 in conference but might be beatable with simcoach... until The0 showed up!  of course playing 6 games in the NT always helps the SOS too.  ;-)

no reason for you to stay there after graduating all those seniors... you need to come join me and dasher and the others in usa south tark.   think about it,  they are great coaches and  guys.   i think USA south has won something like 19 NCs in tark spread among 6 or 7 different schools  (though regratably i cant take any credit for any of that)

tanner,  ill admit my memory is not the best... but i dont remember this.

ive always thought sims were easy to recruit against and easy to play against (relative to human)
do you recall how they made the sim teams play better than thier ratings?
was this just something that you noticed?
or was it a known fact that the game engine somehow compensated for simcoaching?

what point in time  were there really stacked sim teams in d2/d3?

i just dont remember it.

I'm confused. I thought superclasses weren't allowed. Why is a Sim allowed to do it, but not a human coach?

Helps "even" the playing field for sim teams since generally they are not great recruiters and allows them to have a lot of depth/IQ.

Since sim coached teams are allowed super classes, you can take over a sim team when they already have a superclass, and you're not required to rescind scholarships to meet class limits.  However if the superclass graduates and the team is still human coached, the human coach must adhere to class limits while only receiving money for 6 scholarships still.  So in my case if I was to stay with the team I would have 9 scholarships to fill with the budget of 6 scholarships while only being able to recruit 6 players of 1 class.

yeh I had a pretty brutal non-conf schedule if I remember right I was in the top 3  at the end of non-conf schedule but dropped to 33 at the end of Conference tourney because of a full sim conference, which was absolutely brutal.

never made any sense to me.  doesnt really even the playing field... and if they wanted to do that there are a million different ways they could do that.

i mean ok,  in the most extreme cases it allows the sim team to be decent once every four years,  so i guess you could say it kinda levels the field for them in that one year,  but then they are awful for 2 and fiar at best in the third.  just never made sense to me.

Class-balanced sim teams are awful 4 years out of 4.

its probably either that or make sim teams better at recruiting, which would probably **** off most human coaches losing out to sims for good players.

granted most of the time superclasses don't even help since a lot of the superclass are just crappy players with high IQ's, but usually you see 1/2 okay super class sim team that does will since it have a super class with a few decent player and is a sim only conference and ends up losing in the 1st round of NT.
