I'm sure it has probably already been discussed, but what do you think of a "Player of the Week" and "Team of the Week" idea?

Like every five games put together a team and player of the week for the nation.  Then when you get into conference play you can do both conference and national player and teams of the week.

Anybody like this?

in theory it's a nice idea, not that it has any affect on the game.  And so there is really no reason to debate whether it's a good idea because it's not gonna happen.
But the problem with the idea is that player awards still have a bunch of flaws in this game.  So the conference player of the week award is going to go to the same player who leads his team in scoring even though that team is really bad and the coach gives him high ditro either because they don't know what they are doing, or he's actually the only guy on the team that can put the ball in the hoop.  Either way the system takes ppg into account way too much that it would just get frustrating seeing the same awful player winning the award every week.

I don't think that the player awards system is all that terrible. Players who are terribly inefficient and on poor teams are penalized for those deficiencies. Whether or not the extent to which they are penalized is sufficient may be up to interpretation, but I don't think it's as flawed as you make it out to be, Dan.

From a programming standpoint, I think this would be relatively easy to implement so I can support it. And it's not like it would take away from their working on something else HD-related because, as evidence by the period of silence for the last handful of months, any *significant* updates to HD have clearly been put on the backburner.

Yeah I'd dig it. Also could be cool to denote in the game log when a guy gets player of the game similar to how they use the asterisk for starts.
