I have a theory about exhibitions Topic

So if minutes played has an effect on skill progress/WE, then more minutes should be better, right?

Overtime gives players more minutes.

So, overtime in exhibitions would enhance player improvement - a tiny bit?

So, I have lately been trying to game plan to increase the chances of OT - slow pace throughout, stupid game plan if ahead, etc

I know lots of people do things like this (or start non starters, etc.) in exhibition, etc.

I personally pick what I think my lineup will be and see how the team plays.  I also try to pick a team(s) to play against that I think will be about the same quality as my team (that is, not way better or way worse).  I think this give me the best evaluation of the guys for 2 games.

I can certainly understand both the desire to get max attributes for all players and/or max time for backups.  Just not what I normally do.

i dunno mets... i think i gotta sell on this idea.

firstly,  even if you somehow had a magic button you could press and  you would automatically go to OT every game (lets just assume 1 OT)... would think increased PT and resulting change in player ratings even be noticeable over a 4 year career?    lets say you could somehow pull off 8 OT games... thats 40 extra minutes.. thats one games worth.   in the most extreme possible scenario that i can think of,  that MIGHT be one ratings point.  bu more likely its something like a quarter point.  and that doesnt even consider any possibility of diminishing returns for minutes played in a game.

secondly,  the above button doesnt exist.  in a four year period, using your thoughts on keeping games close,  i doubt you would get more than one or two extra overtime games compared to a normal strategy.     now we are down to a benefit that would probably only help you  a few hundredths of a point.

lastly,  if we want to look at ultra small percentages helping and hurting... you would also be ever so slightly increasing the risk of injury if you played more OT games.
