I searched the archives and was unable to locate the post I was looking for. I am curious what the factor is if someone has an A- prestige and they recruit against an A or an A+ school.

Distance being equal - i would say that the A- school will need to spend 1.2-1.25x as much for the A and 1.5x as much for the A+ (round numbers)  That's how I calculate it personally, but i'm interested in other opinions as well

its about 15% per partial grade. keep in mind the listed grades are ranges, and there can be big fluctuation, especially for A+ schools. for example, a B school vs an A school, you usually would look at that as 1 full grade. but really if the B is the highest and the A is the lowest, its exactly 2/3rds of a grade, and if its the lowest B / highest A, its exactly 1 1/3rds of a grade, which is double 2/3rds... so the prestige difference could be as little as 2 partial grades or as much as twice that. so, if you really want to be able to gauge d1 battles, you have to get comfortable making some assessment of where in a letter grade a particular school falls.
