Over in the Baseball sim, i've played in a few of these types of leagues and am intrigued in doing it for Basketball. the idea is simple, draft the worst possible team between 47 and 48 million. Then, that team will be randomly redistributed to someone else who will have to do their best to manage it. Similarly, you get someone else's garbage. Just to have a season to prove the concept, it'd be mandatory to have at least 16000 over all minutes and at least 2 players (each) who's normal position is Guard, Forward, and Center. No clones, no waiver wire, yes to the three rookies you get. the rest is up to the individual to draft garbage. Anyone interested? Sign up here if you are.

Sounds interesting I'd do it if it gets some momentum

yeah, it's a hoot in baseball and really, this will be all about managing. You'll be using different guys and having to put them in different positions to succeed. I like tinkering with my lineups and stuff, not just setting a team and then doing nothing but watch the scores go by. if you like that, this should be fun. if i get 10 people interested, i'll set up the league. in the meantime, i'll hit up the usual suspects to drum up interest.

47-48k? You mean million?

I'm in if this gathers some steam.

16000 minutes?  So there are rookies?

yes, rookies. that adds some chance to it.

Ok I'll give this a shot

Is there a max amount of minutes you can draft? And you have to spend at least 47 million?

Just a thought to improve. I think you need stricter positional criteria. Maybe a lineup must be possible with 98% at each spot for however many minutes. Otherwise you can grab 2 minimum price guards and forwards and put the rest centers. Unless that's intended. Also max minutes make sense too in my opinion. :)

thanks ivnabru,
max minutes shouldn't be a problem because you have to stay between 47 and 48 Million. So, you can have really bad players who just happened to play a lot but that's only one of a possible number of strategies to fill out bad teams. As for the 2 guards and 2 forwards plus 8 centers, that's a possibility and intentional. Does a team that can really rebound overcome their ball handling deficiencies? My initial thought is to leave it wide open to facilitate maximum creativity. However, i do recognize that sometimes people get really, really bad teams and then they pout and quit instead of making the best of it and having fun with it. However, at least in Baseball, there is the possibility of making trades. Soooo, i'm open to some modifications and suggestions (keep 'em coming!) if it means getting this up and going but again, the fun is to see all the varieties of crap strategies.
