one of the very great things about baseball is that it is truly the only sport where players can be compared from honus wagner and ty cobb to the present...baseball players and the game have continuity...you cant compare football players from the 40s to today or basketball fom the 50s and today..hockey players are much bigger and faster..same for boxing...that's why the steroid era damaged the heritage and continuity of baseball....you can take players like ted Williams and don Sutton and they are great over multiple decades...ted Williams 1939 and still in 1960....don't change the rules....if hitting is down naturally let it be...better hitters will eventually come up...the continuity of baseball should not be tampered with.
