Newbie player question Topic

I am taking over a team in DIII next Saturday - the new season starts 3/28 in Naismith, and I am getting Hanover.    I see the current roster has two walk-ons, and these two guys have no playing time at all.    They are listed as FR.    The roster doesn't say anything about red-shirt - but are they redshirted if they don't play at all?      Wondering if they will come to me as FR or SO.

One of them is intriguing. 'James Harris'   A center with a total value of 402 and a work ethic of 100.    His best skill is def 32.   But his speed is 2.   Is someone like this worth trying to develop?   Reading other posts I understand that WE100 means he learns fast until he hits his ceiling - but how do I know what his ceiling is?    And will he have 3 or 4 years left?

I have six returning scholarship players, FWIW.    So I guess I could try to recruit 6 and have this guy as a fallback?

The walkons won't appear on your roster next year, and as heads up overall rating is generally useless and can be disreguarded in mostcases.  Its more important to look at cores

Guards: Spd/Def/Bh/pas and ath/per
Big Men: Ath/Reb/Def as well as spd/sb/lp

For WE its good to have high WE but its better to take the player with better cores and lower WE than worse cores/potential with higher WE, I personally try to get above 30 and never go below 20 which I believe is the general consensus of not going below 20-30 as otherwise there will be no development.

Here is a very good guide to read:

I realized your going to be joining the same conference as me, glad to have another coach come!
