I have a recruit whose initial coach e-mail showed him open to being pulled down. I sent him several SV's and offered him a scholarship, and I got this message back: "Coach, I gotta be honest with you - the more I think about playing there, the more I think it's just not for me. I'll keep you offer here though just in case some other options fall through."

Does that mean he's not interested in my program or that I haven't tried hard enough?

You haven't put in enough SVs. The last line is key - he's keeping your offer there, so if you put in enough effort, he'll pull down.

OK, thanks. Hadn't seen this response before and it's kinda similar to some of the no responses I've seen.
